We also have a unique set of knowledge and quirks in behavior that make up the Texan way – a way of life only true Texans can understand. Queso is Liquid Gold, Not Just Melted Cheese
You may find “chips and queso” on menus in restaurants outside of Texas. However, if you decide to order it, you’re most likely going to be presented with stale chips and a cup full of melted yellow cheese, the kind that coagulates after a few cold minutes. That is not chips and queso, it is an abomination. Real queso, which is an original Tex-Mex creation, involves melted cheese of various kinds, cream, and chili peppers. The combination makes an addictive, hot, and velvety smooth dipping sauce you could drink right out of a glass (not recommended for your health).
